hello people. as you may know, i’m doing a wee exploration into the nature of the relationships and connections set up through blogs…. for part of my degree. i would love it if you could take some of your time to share with me some of your thoughts on blogs. i am more interested in collecting your thoughts than in doing a survey, so the questions below are more of a starting point to get you talking about the stuff you’re interested in and i’m interested in, than a rigid structure to follow. and if any of the questions seem confrontational, my intent is not to offend, just to get you talking about certain things…. (be gentle, i’ve not done anything like this before…). there’s also an ‘any other thoughts’ section at the end for freeform ranting.
so yeah. if you could cut and paste this into an email, fill in your valued thoughts, and email it to s0090960@sms.ed.ac.uk, that’d be so appreciated. if you could send it to me by sat 24th april, that’d also be really helpful. oh, and be very free to tell others about this, forward it to them, whatever….
thanks
fingal
who you are…. (all optional. but these are the easy ones.)
your name….
girl or boy?……
how old you are…..
where you live….
occupation…..
blog address (if you have one)….
if you blog…..
how did you get started blogging and why did you start?
why do you blog now?
do have aspirations as to who you would like to read your blog? if so, what are these?
do you know who your readership is?
how personal are the things you post on your blog?
how do you feel about the fact that anyone can read your blog?
how has having a blog affected your relationships with....
a. friends living nearby?
b. friends living far away?
c. people you wouldn’t know otherwise?
how do you think blogs can deepen relationships and communities existing in a disjointed context, eg. city, dispersed geographically?
how would you repond to people who say that blogs are self indulgent and exhibitionist?
if you read blogs….
how did you come to start reading blogs?
how well do you know the authors of the blogs you read?
do the authors of the blogs you read live near you or far away?
why do you read them?
how do you choose which blogs you read?
how interactive a medium of relating do you consider blogs?
how has reading blogs affected your relationships with the authors?
do you ever feel like you are intruding into someone’s life by reading a blog? why or why not?
and if you read but don’t write….
would you ever write your own blog? why or why not?
what do you think about the blog as a means of deepening relationships and communities existing in a disjointed context, eg. city, dispersed geographically?
how would you repond to people who say that blogs are self indulgent and exhibitionist?
you don’t write. you don’t read. you want to tell me what you think. this is your section.
why don’t you read blogs?
what do you think about the blog as a means of deepening relationships and communities existing in a disjointed context, eg. city, dispersed geographically?
what positive potential do you see in blogs?
do you have concerns about reading or writing blogs? if so, what are they?
any other thoughts….
